I found this photo and it reminded me of my daughter.

For her 21st birthday she wanted to go backpacking with her friends in Europe. I have to be honest, I was a bit worried, not because I didn’t trust her but more so you can’t help but worry about the world. A few days before her trip, she surprised me with an envelope. It was an airline ticket. She wasn’t going with friends as she made me think. She wanted to go with me. You can’t imagine my surprise, my relief, my confusion in all that was happening.

The time that we spent backpacking through old country sides, visiting places that I only fantasized about was absolutely amazing. On one evening, while in Paris, we went to an old chalet and we had a drink. I thought it would be a cool thing to do now that she was of legal age to consume liquor. My old time favorite spirit is tequila, so I ordered us a couple of shots of inocente, sprinkled some Fleur de Sel (French flower salt- when in Paris) on our hands and down they went with the refreshing taste of a lime wedge at the end. I think I shocked my daughter. We laughed all night.

There is only so much we can do, but we NEED to make sure we do it, for our children. After that, we leave everything up to the good Lord. You never know you might be very, surprised.
